Problems displaying and printing £ signs

Postby billduge » Sun Aug 06, 2006 9:53 am

We are currently evaluating RetailMan POS for use in our systems centre in the UK. We have installed an Epson DM-D1108A Pole display on advice from epos store.co.uk and also an Epson TM-U220D receipt printer. They were setup on Friday and seem to work fine except for the £ sign. We cannot print this or display it on the pole. Everything appears to be set up correctly in retailman but no matter what we do the pole display and receipt printer will not print this character. Abnybody got any ideas?

Hi Bill,

We will be putting out an upgrade to address this issue this week, we are aware of this problem, and the new upgrade should fix that. The new version will be 1.61.

To fix the problem with the £ showing up on the POS printer and the POLE display, please download our beta version www.ezisolution.com/rm_1_61.exe this new version has been updated to take care of the currency symbols of the pole display, pos printer and the rest of the system separately.

We have found some hardware deals with the ASCII table a little different than Windows, so we have created a different field for each.
The system now accepts either the currency symbol, or its ASCII value. In our test equipment, we found the POS printer prints the £ if we used the value 167 instead of the £ sign, while the Pole Display works OK if we used the value 156 in the currency field.

POS printer
-------------
Go to MAINTENANCE > SYSTEM SETUP > POS > Docket Printer Currency Symbol = 167

Pole Display
---------------
Go to MAINTENANCE > SYSTEM SETUP > HARDWARE > Currency Symbol = 156

If these do not work, you will need to check the ASCII value in the hardware user manual for the correct £ Ascii code.

Hi there,

We are having this problem and tried to d/l the rm_1_61.exe from the location specified but get a 404 error.

Any chance the link can be fixed please. It's not a major urgent thing but would prefer to use the £ sign instead of the GBP work-around.

We are using an Epson TM88-II on serial interface from a win xp sp 2 box.

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards

In case you need to know codes for frequently used currencies. Some are listed below. The different numbering systems in use.

36 - Dollar sign $
128 - Euro sign €
155 or 162 - Cent sign ¢
156 or 163 - Pound sign £
157 or 165 - Yen sign ¥
